Game Recap

The Brebeuf Braves had their very first weeknight match against fellow Circle City conference member Chatard and managed to win in straight sets, 3-0. The first set was a back and forth affair as both teams attempted to get into a rhythm but ultimately not being able to string any points together. At 15-15 Zach Anglen went back and went on a 7 point service run that gave the Braves some breathing room and allowed them to relax and pull away for the win. Game 2 started out exactly like the end of the first set, with Myles Clark going on a huge service run and giving the Braves a 7-0 lead to start the game. Chatard managed to serve tough and chip away at Brebeuf’s lead until finally able to pull ahead at 13-14 with smart shots from a variety of hitters that scored and kept the Braves’ defenders guessing at where to play defense. Brebeuf finally managed to pull even at 22-22 and Eric Hau’s serving gave them a 2 point cushion at 24-22 but Chatard wasn’t done yet. They pulled closer with the next point before Myles Clark drove home a deep cross court kill from the outside for the winning point. Brebeuf pulled out with another early lead in set 3 and never relinquished it through the entire third game. Chatard managed to pull within 1 point two times, at 13-12 and 14-13 but some strong defensive work from the back row allowed Brebeuf to pull away the rest of the match, despite Chatard’s defensive effort to keep balls alive. Myles Clark once again ended the match with yet another kill, assist going to Eric Hau. With the win, Brebeuf moves to 3-1 on the season.
