Game Recap

The game vs Guerin Catholic had a lot riding on it last night. This game was postponed from last Friday due to severe weather. It did not take much for both teams to hold in all of their excitement for a few days to what would turn out to be a game for the first ever Circle City Conference Championship. Going into this game, both Guerin and Brebeuf were tied for first place. With only one more conference game to be played by both teams, the winner would most likely be crowned the first conference champions.

The game started off with the Braves scoring first and often to take a 5-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Brebeuf’s strong performance on defense and offense throughout the first half propelled the Braves to a 7-1 first half lead. Guerin was able to re-group during the second half, outscoring the Braves 6 to 4. However, Brebeuf had the game well in hand to defeat Guerin by a score of 11-7.

Will Roberts lead all scoring with 4 goals and 4 assists. Freshmen, Erik Klem had a tremendous performance, adding 4 goals for the night while having his best performance in a varsity game in his young career. Other contributors in scoring were, Jackson Wheeler with 2 goals and 2 assists, Will King with 1 goal and 1 assist and Dillon Howell with 1 assist.

The Braves defense set the tone from beginning to end with strong performances in the cage and on the field. Stephen Geske had another great performance in cage with 13 saves while limiting Guerin to scoring only 7 goals. The defense overall created a number of turn overs in riding situations and limited Guerin’s extra man offense to only a few scores.

CONGRATULATIONS BRAVES – 2017 CIRCLE CITY CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!
