Game Recap

Three-time defending Marion County Tournament champion Brebeuf Jesuit won its first game of this year’s tournament Monday night with a 4-0 road victory at Pike. The Braves, now 14-0-1 on the year, will play the winner of the Warren Central/Perry Meridian game on Wednesday at 7:30 PM at Pike. The win was the 80th for the Brebeuf program over the past four seasons.
Senior goalies Reni Osuntokun and Chloe Levine combined for the Braves seventh consecutive shutout victory.
Senior captain Hallie Pearson, who leads the Braves in goals and assists (13/13), had two goals vs. Pike. Sophomore forward Paige Edens scored the game’s first goal just 4:17 into the contest on an assist from senior Jordan Smith. Pearson’s goal at 28:12 from senior Sylvia Soria gave the visitors a 2-0 halftime edge.
Pearson made it 3-0 Brebeuf with 19 minutes left in the game off an assist from sophomore Melanie Marshall. Senior Hope Edens closed the scoring with an unassisted goal late in the game.
Of the Braves 80 wins over the past four seasons, remarkably 52 have come via shutout.
