Multiple Teams · Brebeuf Crew Competes at Midwest Championship Erg Sprints

For the first time in Brebeuf Crew history, 13 student-athletes made the trek to Columbus, Ohio on Saturday 2/22 to compete at the Midwest Championship Erg Sprints. And compete they did, making Brebeuf proud in a competition with over 500 athletes.

A few highlights include freshman Paris Miller, who won the Novice Women’s event with a time of 7:04.9, destroying the event record and solidifying herself as one of the fastest athletes in the entire country. Coming in close behind her in 4th and 5th place, respectively, were junior Taylor Prince and freshman Grace Kaufmann, who both had huge personal records. On the Varsity Women’s side, Brebeuf Crew took 3rd, 4th, and 5th places, with senior Avery Thorpe, who will be rowing at Indiana University in the fall, earning the bronze medal, junior Adele Auersch in 4th place, and freshman Avery Cook in 5th place — all three were within 5 seconds of each other. The Varsity Men also has impressive showings, a highlight being lightweight freshman Vincent Mann competing against much older and heavier athletes and winning his heat with a personal best time of 7:16.3.
