In a battle of two Top 20 ranked teams, No. 2 in the state Brebeuf Jesuit defeated No. 13 Fishers 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field in the Braves final home game of the 2017 season. The Braves, now 12-0-1, will close the regular part of their season next Saturday afternoon at Westfield. The victory marked the 30th triumph at home for Brebeuf (with one loss and two ties) in the last four years and was the Braves fifth consecutive shutout win.
Brebeuf wasted little time getting on the board on the hot, sunny afternoon when with just 1:33 into the game, junior Brianna Arthur scored off a pass from senior captain Hallie Pearson. Eight minutes later senior Kayla Fitts scored on a header with an assist from junior Alex Meltzer and sophomore Sophie Weeter.
Senior captain goalie Reni Osuntokun earned another shutout win for the Braves with four saves.

The Braves played a more direct brand of soccer that normal and put pressure on the Rebels with Jr and Player of the Game, Alex Potts, and So Alec Bevelheimer leading the way and causing problems on their defense.
The 2 combined for the only goal of the game after the Rebels defense turned the ball over and Potts took it and passed it to Bevelheimer.
The Braves continued pressing and had a couple of great chances to score but got a good performance by the Rebels’ goalkeeper who was able to smother them.

Game Recap

The Brebeuf Braves boys varsity soccer team defeated the Heritage Christian Eagles at their place by a score of 5-1 in their second Circle City Conference game.
The Braves had their first big score win of the season with a strong performance against a physical Eagles team.
The opening goal came from a throw-in by So. Alec Bevelheimer who threw long into the box for Jr Alex Potts who headed it in. The second goal was similar to the first, with the same players involved and the same result. 2-0. Later, Bevelheimer struck his only goal of the night on a corner from Jr Mitchell Amstutz.
The Eagles countered later on a long pass to make it a 3-1 score. Just before half, captain Amstutz had the goal of the night with a strike from about 30 yards into the upper right hand corner of the Eagles net keeper to finish the half 4-1.
The second half, the Braves played with more discipline on defense but were only able to score once when Sr Jackson Widlic was brought down inside the goalie box for a PK, which he put away for a final score of 5-1.

Game Recap

The Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team captured its second straight Circle City Conference championship Tuesday night with a hard-fought 2-0 victory at Roncalli. The Braves, who have only been in the CCC for two years have won league titles each year and have yet to lose a CCC contest. The win gives Brebeuf, ranked No. 1 in the nation by Maxpreps, an 11-0-1 record in 2017. The Braves have recorded four straight shutout wins and have not lost a regular-season road game in four years.
Brebeuf’s first goal came with 9:55 remaining in the first half when junior Brianna Arthur scored off a pass from senior captain Kayla Fitts. It marked Arthur’s 10th goal of the season — tied for the team lead. For Fitts, it was her ninth assist of the campaign.
Sophomore Sophie Weeter scored the game’s only other goal with 20:15 left in the contest on an assist from junior Phoebe Klein and sophomore Melanie Marshall.
Senior captain Reni Osuntokun was again superb in goal recording another shutout for the Braves.
Brebeuf will play its final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 PM at Varsity Field against Fishers.
