The Brebeuf Freshman Braves snagged a late lead and defeated Ben Davis 12-8 on Wednesday. The game was tied at eight with Brebeuf batting in the bottom of the fifth when Cole Hartung singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
Bats blistered as the Braves collected 11 hits and Ben Davis tallied five in the high-scoring game.
Ben Davis opened up scoring in the second inning. Mo Guzman grounded out, scoring one run. Brebeuf notched six runs in the third inning. Danny Kirk, Matt Pahl, Aidan Aitken, Brian Halvorson, and Max Cookerly all drove in runs in the frame.
Braeden Sanders started on the mound for Brebeuf. He allowed one hit and five runs over four innings, striking out five. Cookerly finished on the mound with a 1, 2, 3 seventh inning to secure the victory.
The Braves tallied 11 hits in the game. Pahl, Hartung, Sam Neier, Cookerly, and Sanders each managed multiple hits, each collecting two.
