The Brebeuf Jesuit Freshman Braves lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat to Zionsville on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Zionsville batting in the bottom of the fifth when Josh Stone grounded out, scoring one run. The game was suspended at the end of the fifth inning due to rain.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Zionsville pitchers struck out six, while the Braves sat down two.
In the first inning, 2018 Brebeuf Jesuit Braves Freshman Baseball got their offense started when Sam Neier was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.
Jacob Meyer led things off on the hill for Zionsville. He went four innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out four.
Braeden Sanders started the game for Brebeuf. He surrendered one run on three hits over three and a third innings, striking out two. Neier and Aidan Aitken entered the game as relief, throwing one inning and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
Max Cookerly and Julius Dickerson each collected one hit to lead Brebeuf.
