The Brebeuf Ice Hockey team opened up the new year with a 3-2 win over Westfield High School tonight. The Brave’s came out fast and hard right away, scoring two quick goals to open the first period. Junior, Brock Moore tallied two goals on the night including the opener. Parker Baumann added to his season total with the second goal of the game. Down by two going into the second period, Westfield was able to strike back with a the lone second period goal, cutting the Brave’s lead to one. Brebeuf was able to grab a very important insurance goal to extend their lead. Early in the third period, Brock Moore found the puck on his stick deep in the Westfield zone, where he put together a series of moves that split the defense, giving him just enough room to stuff home a backhand for his second goal. Westfield, however did not go down without a fight. With a couple minutes left in the game, Westfield was able to capitalize on a defensive mistake in the Brebeuf zone, making the score 3-2 Braves.

Brebeuf is back in action tomorrow, taking on the South Stars A team at 4:15pm. The game will be played at the Carmel iceSkadium.
