Last night, the Brebeuf Varsity Lacrosse Team were defeated by Zionsville by a score of 9 – 21, handing the Braves their first loss of the early season.
Zionsville got off to a quick start, scoring 7 goals in the first quarter, followed by another 8 goals in the second quarter. The Braves failed to keep pace with Zionsville, scoring only 3 goals in each of the first 2 quarters, ending with a half time score that had Zionsville leading by a score of 6 – 15.
The Braves battled back to lead the scoring in the third quarter with Brebeuf posting 3 goals to Zionsville’s 2 goals. Unfortunately, in the fourth quarter, the Braves were unable to overcome the substantial lead that Zionsville obtained in the first quarter.
Matthew McKay was the leader for the Braves in scoring for the night, tallying 3 goals. Other contributors were David Hirschfeld (2 goals), Quinn Fitzgerald (2 goals), Ryan Witchger (1 goal and 1 assist) and Lachlan Latz (1 goal).
Brebeuf, 1 – 1 on the season, will take on next Bishop Chatard next on Friday evening at Chatard, a Circle City Conference rival. The Braves will finish this week’s contests with a home game vs Mishawaka Marian at Noon on Saturday.
