The Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team opened the IHSAA state tournament with an impressive 6-0 shutout victory over Cardinal Ritter at Ritter in 2A Sectional #26 on Tuesday evening. The Braves, now 12-5-2 overall, will play Thursday at 5 PM in the next round. It was the ninth shutout of the season for junior goalkeeper Savannah McNeal.

Senior Sophie Weeter had two goals and two assists for Brebeuf while junior Courtney Kelley added two assists. Also scoring goals for the Braves were: seniors Melanie Marshall, Molly Kennedy, Paige Edens and Rachel Kump. Junior Gabbie Lindeman had an assist.

Playing well defensively for the Braves were: sophomore Erin Terry, sophomore Caroline Burns, Kump, Marshall and junior Mary Munson.
