The 2A No. 7-ranked Brebeuf Jesuit girls soccer team earned a hard-fought Circle City Conference win Tuesday night at home with a 1-0 victory over 2A No. 20-ranked Roncalli (6-3-1) at Varsity Field. The four-time defending conference champion Braves, now 5-2-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play, will travel to South Bend Saturday afternoon to battle 3A No. 5-ranked and undefeated St. Joe.
After a scoreless first half, the Braves got the game winner in the second half when sophomore Mia Winters netted her first goal of ’20 on a passing combination from sophomore Olivia Mulhern and freshman Josie Studley. Senior GK Savannah McNeal was superb in the nets for Brebeuf with five saves in recording her sixth shutout of the season. Also playing well defensively for the Braves were: seniors Gabi Arthur, Courtney Kelley and Gabbie Lindeman; juniors Caroline Burns and Erin Terry; and sophomore Emma Rossie.
