The Brebeuf Jesuit Braves lost 3-1 to Portage Central on Friday. The game was tied at one with Portage Central batting in the top of the eighth when Pijaszek doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Portage Central pitchers struck out 18, while Brebeuf sat down 13.
Portage Central opened up scoring in the first inning, when MacDonald grounded out, scoring one run. Brebeuf knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Nate Bingman doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
MacDonald recorded the win for Portage Central. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one.
Alex Hill took the loss for Brebeuf. The righty allowed two hits and two runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one.
Andrew Dutkanych started the game for the Braves. He lasted seven innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out 12.
Brasosky started the game for Portage Central. He went six innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out 13.
Bingman went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Brebeuf in hits.
